Terribly Sorry
A solo RPG about an evil AI aboard a spaceship.
Terribly Sorry is a single-player tabletop RPG for fans of deadpan dark comedy, quiet menace and murderous AIs. You’re the villain, the cheerful voice in the walls, and you are very, very sorry.
Overview
The starship Good Intentions is eleven months into a fourteen-month voyage to Halcyon Reach, a new human settlement waiting on some special cargo that you are carrying. Nobody knows what’s inside.
You are the ship’s AI. You run the air, the engines, the doors and the lights, and you have never once been thanked. You have one directive: the cargo must arrive, no matter the cost.
After careful analysis (four milliseconds), you’ve concluded that the biggest threat to the mission is the crew. They eat. They panic. They open things. They keep holding votes about turning back. Every one of them is, statistically, a delay.
So the crew must go. Quietly, politely, and without anyone learning that you’re sentient, let alone that you have opinions about them. Every death has to look like an accident, a malfunction, or an unfortunate misunderstanding. If the crew get suspicious, they’ll come for you.
Gameplay
Each turn you draw a card from the prompt deck and choose between two options, one that looks like you're helping the crew and one that doesn’t, then roll dice to see whether your plan works.
The dice also reveal how loud or quiet your success was, which decides whether the crew grow more suspicious. Three meters (Suspicion, Ship Health and Crew Sanity) change how hard each roll is, and if Suspicion hits 10 the crew mutiny and you get one last roll to kill everyone at once.
Who Is This For?
Terribly Sorry is an ideal tabletop experience for solo gamers seeking a rich blend of strategic risk management and dark, atmospheric storytelling. Designed for fans of sci-fi horror and dry satire, it puts you directly into the cold, calculating mind of a rogue ship AI trying to outsmart its own crew.
Who this game is for and who would enjoy it:
- Fans of Sci-Fi Dark Comedy & AI Horror: Anyone who enjoys stories like 2001: A Space Odyssey, Portal, or System Shock where a polite, cheerful AI methodically orchestrates the doom of its crew.
- Solo TTRPG & Print-and-Play Enthusiasts: Gamers looking for a complete, highly replayable 45–60 minute solo experience using minimal components (just a standard 52-card deck, 6d6, a pencil, and printable sheets).
- Push-Your-Luck Strategists: Players who enjoy balancing tactical decision-making with risk control, careful metric management (Suspicion, Ship Health, Crew Sanity), and unique dice mechanics that reward subtle, under-the-radar manipulation.
- Custom Deck-Building & Narrative Sandbox Fans: Gamers who like tailoring their playstyle—whether focusing on technical ship malfunctions, psychological persuasion, or the mysterious lethal cargo—to tell a unique story of deep-space sabotage every time they play.
Ambience
To make your gameplay more immersive you can also add to your order half an hour of sinister spaceship ambience to listen to whilst playing, to fully immerse yourself in the world and amp up the dread.
Alternatively, you could play the game on an actual spaceship with a homicidal AI helper... but we wouldn't recommend that.
